Book Tour ~ Slide by Michelle Congdon
After surviving a horrific car accident that claimed the lives of her mother and brother, Evangeline made a promise to herself to never go back to the city filled with the memories of her tragic past. But when her estranged father suddenly falls ill, she has no choice but to return to New York and to the life she spent twelve years trying to avoid.
Since the accident, heiress to the multi-billion dollar Montgomery Empire, Evangeline has always feared the media attention that comes with having the Montgomery name and would immediately give it all up if it meant the chance to bring back her loved ones. Delicate and camera shy, the last person she should have on her mind is a type of guy like Ryan Fox.
Witty, extremely arrogant but undeniably good-looking are only a few words Evangeline can use to describe the New York Yankee’s hot-shot. The notorious bad boy― well-versed at playing the game both on and off the field― isn’t fazed about the media circus following his every move and couldn’t be anymore different to the quiet, shy girl that she is. So, what does a guy like him see in somebody as messed-up as her? And although everything about Ryan screams trouble with a capital T, why can’t Evangeline seem to stay away? It’s not until they’re away from the cameras that Evangeline begins to see the real man hiding behind the cocky facade- one that’s hurt and haunted by a dark and terrible secret.
What will happen once Evangeline finds the courage to reveal what really happened on the evening her mother and brother died? And how will she react when she finally learns the truth about Ryan’s chilling past? Will baring their deepest secrets bring them closer together or will it tear them apart and have them sliding into darkness all over again?
1.) How did you come up with the title?
Now, I have to answer this right, in-case he is reading this, ha ha. I finished the story long before I had a title! I would beg some of my friends to think of words and terms that they associated with ‘baseball’. A friend suggested, Slide. There were about 3 suggestions in the end and we drew them out of a hat. Slide won 🙂
2.) Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
3.) Are experiences in this book based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
Slide is entirely fiction. Although, small scenes in the book have been inspired by real life. Such as when Evangeline and her best friend are watching re-runs of Will and Grace (my friends and I used to do that all the time!), and a scene that involves Ryan’s dog almost biting him. (Happened to my cousin while I was holding his puppy; except that Toby was a Chihuahua and not a great big Blood Hound.) Trust me, the look on my cousin’s face was priceless!!
4.) Was there anything you found particularly challenging in writing this book?
Writing the emotional scenes. I’ve never gone through anything close to what Evangeline or Ryan had endured. So to write something from scratch, and make it both raw and full of emotion was a challenge.
5.) Who designed the cover?
My wonderful and extremely talented brother 🙂
6.) Do you have to travel much concerning your books?
Not at the moment. I’ve only published e-books previously (but Slide will soon be available in paperback.) Next year I have plans for some traveling, though. I can’t wait!!
7.) What was the hardest part of writing Slide?
The emotional scenes. It still breaks my heart when I read through it. Hopeless I tell you!
8.) Did you learn anything from writing Slide and if so, what was it?
That no matter what you plan, your characters will come to life and change everything you had set out for them. Even I couldn’t say no to Mr. Fox.
9.) Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I never planned on being an Author. Two years ago, a friend of mine suggested jotting all of the crazy dreams and ideas I got into a journal, and before I knew it, an entire story came of it.
10.) Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Just a big THANK YOU for your ongoing support and I hope that you enjoy Slide as much as I enjoyed writing it! Xx
